A CHURCH SHINING BRIGHT // Philippians 2:12-18

What will it take for the church as a whole to shine like stars in the middle of a dying world? As individuals, we can shine, but as a collective people we can radiate in a way not possible on our own.

HUMILITY ACTUALIZED // Philippians 2:5-11

Everyone knows that humility is a virtue, and we especially recognize when it is NOT being fostered (particularly in other people). The question for us today is: What is REAL or TRUE humility? As we continue through Philippians, we are going to see how Christ’s coming to earth in human form is the ultimate example of what humility actually is.

JOY IN SELF-EMPTYING // Philippians 2:1-4

When any two people exist in close proximity for a period of time, conflict inevitably results. The church is no different. Today, as we look at Philippians 2:1-4, we’ll see the Apostle Paul’s heart for a unified church.

SIMPLE GOSPEL LIVING // Philippians 1:27-30

The word “gospel” can often be met with such familiarity that its rich meaning can get lost. As we continue through the book of Philippians (1:27-30), we will see how the Apostle Paul sees the gospel as something we are to live centered on, and how when we embrace simple gospel living, it will bring supernatural results.

A CLEAR FUTURE // Philippians 1:18b-26

America has been described as a “death denying culture.” This means that we avoid the painful reality as much as humanly possible with distraction and numbing our minds. However, what should Christians think about death? Should it be hopeless? Today, as we go through Philippians 1:18b-26, we will see how the Apostle Paul saw death as glorious gain. Also, we will see how our love and devotion to Jesus can give us that same joyful mindset.

JOY WITHOUT ME AT THE CENTER // Philippians 1:12-18

A modern slogan that many of us have bought into is “It’s all about me.” Most of us wouldn’t admit it out loud, but our hearts are drawn to a “me-first” mentality. What if true joy was found not only in God Himself, but in God’s mission over our lives? Today, as we look at Philippians 1:12-18, we are going to see how true joy is found in pursuing the fame of Jesus.

UNLIKELY JOY // Philippians 1:3-11

In a culture that is very individualistic, what is our ultimate source of joy? Today, as we continue through Philippians 1, we are going to look at how individualism isn’t all bad, but our greatest joy will come from being Christ and gospel focused.

JOY TO THE [RESTLESS] WORLD // Philippians 1:1-2

We are kicking off our series on the book of Philippians, and today we’re talking all about joy. How, in modern America, are we miserably joyless, and yet the Apostle Paul, writing to the church in Philippi while in prison, can have so much joy? We’ll see that he found joy in making himself less and becoming a slave to Jesus Christ and His purposes.
